This month’s program: “Transhumanism: Taking Humanism to the Extreme”

What is at the heart of a human? What does Humanism celebrate, at its core? As the blinding notions of the past and the physical constraints of the present are cut away by science, technology, and reason, what will remain?

During this presentation, we’ll hear from Max Harms about Transhumanism, an ideology that takes Humanist ideals and combines them with an attention to disruptive new technologies. We’ll start with highlighting a fundamental shift that makes atheism different than “just another religious belief” — a shift that sets the foundation for talking about Transhumanism. Then, after some introduction of what Transhumanism is and what it’s about, we’ll explore the frontiers of experience and see how attention to transforming and improving the human condition can lead us to an inspiring vision of a better tomorrow.

Join us at 11:30am for pizza; the meeting begins at 12noon.
