Monday, March 11, 12noon-1pm, Columbus Metropolitan Library [Main Branch] [Rm. 3A], 96 S. Grant Ave.
Let’s celebrate Sunshine Week together! Join us for a brown bag lunch on Monday, March 11, 12noon-1pm, at the Main Branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Main Library, 96 S. Grant Ave., in Room 3A.
Ohio’s Sunshine Laws (the Open Meetings Act and the Public Records Act) enable all of us to better understand how elected officials are making decisions. Ohio’s Sunshine Laws were put in place so that government officials would be more accountable. Because of public records, we are able to get information about the actions of police officers, school boards, and more!
ACLU Ohio’s Gary Daniels and Common Cause Ohio’s Catherine Turcer will provide an overview of the strengths and weaknesses of Ohio’s Sunshine Laws. They will also provide some tips to increase your likelihood of receiving public records.
