MORPC and its regional partners coordinated a housing strategy for Central Ohio. This event will highlight the findings of the study.

Overview:

The past decade has been one of historic growth and demographic changes for Central Ohio. In addition, the highly competitive real estate market and a persistently high poverty rate have led to an increasing number of Central Ohioans who are struggling to find housing in the neighborhoods of their choice. The Regional Housing Strategy was created in response to these trends.

Recent events related to the COVID-19 pandemic and racial injustices have highlighted disparities and inequalities in health, education, housing and the economy. Through our Regional Housing Strategy, we are working together with our community partners to identify gaps in affordable and sufficient housing to not only meet our current and future market demands but to do our part in eliminating systemic racism.

Together, regional stakeholders representing local governments, financial institutions, real estate, service providers, and community leaders are working to develop investment and policy recommendations that will promote housing as a platform for equitable growth and serve as a guide for planning for the region’s future housing market.
