Saturday, July 30, 8:30am-5pm; and Sunday, July 31, 12-3pm; First Unitarian Universalist Church, 93 W. Weisheimer Rd.

Join three Ohio Showing Up for Racial Justice [SURJ] chapters, and two national SURJ staff people, for a training on direct action, organizational building and deep canvassing!  The training will be led by Erin Heaney, the National Organizer for SURJ, and Z! Haukeness, the Midwest Regional Resource person for SURJ.

The training will take place on Saturday, July 30, 8:30am-5:00pm; and Sunday, July 31st, 12:00-3:30pm.; at First Unitarian Universalist Church, 93 W. Weisheimer Rd.

Group members from Columbus SURJ, Greater-Dayton SURJ, and Cleveland SURJ will convene in Ohio for an opportunity to learn skills, build relationships, and strengthen the organizing for racial justice in Ohio. Others may join from surrounding states.

Saturday will be for core members who have attended regular meetings of the chapters; Sunday will be a broader public invite for anyone who wants to get involved in SURJ!

SURJ’s focus is on bringing together white people to work for racial justice as part of a multi-racial movement for justice.  Now is as good a time as any with the momentum of the Movement For Black Lives pushing ahead, and the overt racism of Donald Trump creating a volatile climate leading into an important election.

Childcare will be provided; the building is accessible.
