The Ohio State University is one of the largest employers in Ohio, bringing together tens of thousands of tenured and contingent faculty, graduate students, nurses, staff, and other workers. Without our collective labor, the university could not run.

While each group of workers faces their own unique struggles, our common position as workers on campus gives us a shared interest in organizing together to fight for a more equitable university.

On January 20, International Socialist Organization [ISO] Columbus and Save Grad Ed OSU will be hosting a panel of campus workers to discuss their individual stories and the struggle for workers’ rights and fairness on campus.

The panel will feature a representative from Save Grad Ed, a coalition of graduate students organizing to fight against the GOP tax scam and a representative of a contingent faculty working group, which recently organized a teach-in on conditions facing contingent faculty at OSU.

The panel will also feature a keynote speech from Joe Richard, a labor organizer with Rutgers AAUP-AFT [American Association of University Professors and American Federation of Teachers], which represents all contingent faculty, adjuncts, and graduate employees at Rutgers University. He has also worked on organizing drives at University of Illinois at Urbana and Champaign, the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
