UK folk-pop singer Lucy Spraggan will be playing a headlining show at Rumba Cafe on June 23rd.

She just released her fifth (!!!) studio album Today Was A Good Day on May 3rd via Cooking Vinyl. The four-time UK Top 40 artist's signature folk-pop style (Think a mix of Courtney Barnett, KT Tunstall, and Ed Sheeran) has captured hearts in her home country, allowing her to forge her own path across Europe and the UK. She has also received hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube (With some of her videos reaching millions of views!!).

Lucy also has a fascinating personal history. An LGBTQ warrior who speaks out about equality and representation, she is a foster mom with her wife "G" and has taken care of 14 kids so far. She went to school to become a firefighter, but after an accident at her demolition operator job (One of many unique careers she worked in her youth. She was also a magician to just give you a taste), she turned to singing as a career instead. She was a contestant on The X Factor (UK) in 2012, in which she auditioned with her own song, which is usually forbidden. Her audition video has been viewed over 44 MILLION times and it led to her becoming the most Googled artist of 2012!  That is just scratching the surface of the life experiences that Lucy has had.

One of her best tracks on the record is the powerful "End Of The World," a song that is about appreciating the love of her life during the literal apocalypse. It's a track that feels especially close to home in today's climate and the earnestness of it never fails to bring a smile on my face. It's also a track that encapsulates the themes of hopefulness and gratefulness that are present throughout the album, right down to the title. Another track that encompasses this perfectly is the lead single "Lucky Stars." The chorus has been stuck in my head since I first heard it and I hope the same happens to you.
