Saturday, January 11, 11:30am-2:30pm, Columbus Metropolitan Library [Parsons Branch], 1113 Parsons Ave.

Don’t believe in God? You are not alone! Join the Humanist Community of Central Ohio [HCCO], a community that values people, emphasizes reason, and focuses on this world.

Join us each and every second Saturday for free pizza, fruit, beverages, and enlightening presentations. The refreshments start flowing at 11:30am and the presentation starts at 12noon.

This month, HCCO board member Catherine Carney will give a presentation on the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights [UDHR], that had been adopted in December 1948 in the aftermath of World War II. After a short summary of the 31 rights that are contained within that document, we will have a group discussion on how the UDHR relates to Humanism, whether all of the rights are applicable to the current era, and what, if anything, we, as Humanists, feel needs to be addressed, both in the philosophy of inalienable human rights and in their application in the United States.
