Tuesday, February 16, 12noon-1pm, this on-line event requires advance registration
In 2016, the NIH [National Institutes of Health] designated gender and sexual minorities an official health disparity population. This is a welcome change that increases research attention and possible funding opportunities to work with LGBTQI communities.
However, more research opportunities do not necessarily translate to better research. This panel will discuss the distinctive challenges of research concerning gender and sexual minorities, including the risks of research fatigue, prioritization of research, stigma, trust, and community empowerment.
Featured Panelists:
• Florence Ashley (SJD Candidate, University of Toronto Faculty of Law)
• Julia Applegate (Director, Equitas Health)
• Julianna Nemeth (Assistant Professor, College of Public Health, OSU)
