We are calling to condemn the wrongful charges being pressed against Deandre, one of the #BlackPride4, who is being falsely charged for a felony aggravated robbery.
The #BlackPride4 are four of a larger group of Black queer and trans people and allies who silently blocked Columbus Pride Parade to protest the acquittal of the police officer who killed Philando Castile and raise awareness about violence against Black trans women nationwide. After only 30 seconds of blocking the parade, police escalated the situation by pepper spraying and hitting the peaceful protesters with their bikes. Wriply, Ashley, Kendall, and Deandre were arrested. Three of the four who were arrested will shortly post bail, but Deandre has been wrongfully charged with a felony.
This Monday at 8:30am we will gather outside of the Franklin County Municipal Courthouse to peacefully demonstrate against Deandre's charges. Their hearing will be at 9:00am.
LIST OF DEMANDS:
1) Immediate release of Deandre
2) Drop all charges or pending charges against each of the #BlackPride4
3) Investigation of the excessive force from police against peaceful demonstrators
Please bring signs pertaining to our demands.
