Café Bourbon Street’s Pierogi Mountain, located in the North Campus area on Summit, has a seasonal variety of delicious, Eastern European Style, filled dumpling called Pierogi topped with caramelized onions. When you are buzzing around town looking for a vegan midnight meal, some music and great service, this dive-bar might just be the hive you were looking for.

The Columbus vegan community continues to flourish; in 2011, the Columbus Vegan Meet-up Group had 300 members and has since surpassed the 1864 member mark in 2016. In addition to the formal emergence of non-profit vegan empowerment organization Vegan Shift.org in 2014, seasonal/monthly Vegan pop-up Markets, by It’s All Natural, and the visionary evolution of Portia’s Café with the expansion into Clintonville Natural Foods Market, 100 percent Plant-based Powerhouse Beth Perera has joined the scene with her certified Food for Life nutrition and cooking courses and educational screenings. Wellness Forum Foods famous Forks Over Knives Chef, Del Sroufe, published a new book and Dr. Pam Popper was featured in a new film, Columbus Veg Fest 2016 just had their inaugural event on Sep 24th. A new, group, the Columbus Veg Community organization has also planned to launch the Ohio VegFest in Sept 2017 and several other national groups, such as Mercy for Animals (MFA originally pioneered in Ohio) and now Vegan Outreach, and OSU’s student group Reaching Out for Animal Rights (ROAR) have fixed representation here. The comprehensive social justice movement for all earthlings via vegan consciousness continues gaining velocity in the heartland.
