Fresh Kitchen has brought healthier, tastier, sustainable vegan options to the Mill Run Shopping Center in Hilliard. From refreshing salads, to “power” bowls, to satiating sandwiches, everyone can find something for them, including vegans and gluten-free diners. The Sesame Ginger, Lemon Herb Chimi dressings and Sweet and Spicy Korean sauces are vegan. The pesto is not (dairy), neither are the smashed potatoes (dairy), Honey-Sesame Dressing, Citrus Vinaigrette, or Lemon Garlic Broccoli options (honey). Tofu is the current vegan protein option, however they are interested in adding cannellini beans for those seeking more whole foods, plant-based options.
As we have yet another consecutive year warning to multiple communities impacted by “nitrate contamination” in the municipal drinking water, the connection must be made that what we consume has nasty consequences; Animal agricultural waste run-off in the Scioto river. This can be linked most assuredly to the National Pollutants Discharge Elimination System monitoring that is used to track water pollution and whose authority to monitor was transferred from the OEPA to the ODA in 2009 with the passing of SB 203. This was a second loss for the public and another boon to animal ag industry when combined with the passing of Issue 2 in 2009. Having the fox guarding the proverbial hen house has yielded predictable results. Plants do not generate pollution. Veganic farming is the future.
