Saturday, June 17, 12noon-6pm, MPACC Box Park by Maroon Arts Group, 925 Mt. Vernon Ave.

As part of “Juneteenth on the Ave.,” presented by Maroon Arts Group and located in the historic Bronzeville community, “Foundation to Future” will celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip hop by diving into its historical, cultural, and creative impact on the world through art historical archiving, technology immersion, and music and arts enrichment programming, and activities.

This is in collaboration with and presented by Irrepressible Soul / Urban Arts Space, Sole Classics, Black Footwear Forum, Canvaas, the OSU Department of African American and African Studies [AAAS], the OSU AAAS Community Extension Center, and the Columbus Music Commission.

“Irrepressible Soul” is a collection of work from different Afro-diasporic artists that reflects the complexities of the Black experience — their Black experience — by demonstrating the Black aesthetic, which conveys a refusal to be controlled or restrained. “Irrepressible Soul” is a celebration, a form of liberation.

The MPACC Box Park is an outdoor event venue located at 925 Mt. Vernon Ave. in the King-Lincoln/Bronzeville District.

Hosted by Urban Arts Space.
