Today, the threat of nuclear war is all too real — perhaps greater than it has been since the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 — threatening all of humanity. Join Sean Meyer, co-founder of Back from the Brink: Bringing Communities to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, to learn how you and your organization can get involved in this campaign and join a growing global nuclear abolition movement.

A long-time peace and nuclear disarmament advocate and campaigner, Sean Meyer serves as an advisor/consultant to the Back from the Brink (BftB) campaign, a national grassroots coalition running a national campaign to abolish nuclear weapons and reduce nuclear risks. BftB has been endorsed by over 400 local, state, and national organizations, including several faith organizations, as well some 430 local and state elected officials.

BftB resolutions have been passed in over 70 U.S. cities, towns, counties and state legislatures. From 2007 to 2021, Mr. Meyer served as manager of Strategic Campaigns for the Global Security Program at the Union of Concerned Scientists. Mr. Meyer will offer his insights on the vital role of people of faith and faith-based organizations can offer in building a vibrant, diverse, politically powerful nuclear disarmament constituency. Representatives of two BftB-affiliated groups will offer brief responses/perspectives.
