Saturday, August 13, 8am-3pm, in your neighborhood or in public parks

What is Plogging?

Plogging is the simple act of picking up litter while you run, hike, or walk. It started in Sweden around 2016 and the term is a merging of the Swedish verbs “plocka upp” (pick up) and “jogga” (jog) creating the new verb “plogga.”

Plogging started spreading to other countries around the world in 2018, following increased concern about plastic pollution. As a workout, it provides variation in body movements by adding bending, squatting, and stretching to the main action of running, hiking, or walking.
