Thursday, October 26, 7pm, Drexel Theater, 2254 E. Main St.

The issue of ending violence against women and girls is a complicated one. The purpose of the movie, Beauty Bites Beast, is to provide tools to females to be part of the solution while an assault is taking place rather than raising her to expect rescue from someone else. Empowerment self-defense advocates, both women and men, have been systematically excluded from private and public conversations. The foundational ideas of Beauty Bites Beast are based in the determination to have empowerment self-defense advocates included at the “solve violence against women and girls” discussion tables around the world.

IMPACT Safety has been teaching empowered self-defense to women, girls, children with disabilities, organizations, schools, and companies in the Columbus, Ohio area for the past 25 years.

On October 26 at 7pm, this organization will screen the film Beauty Bites Beast, a powerful documentary about the importance of women’s self-defense.

Ellen Snortland, the film’s writer and director, will be in attendance and will take part in a question-and-answer following the screening. Ms. Snortland also wrote the book on which the documentary is based.
