Monday, September 25, 7-9pm, Columbus Mennonite Church, 35 Oakland Park Ave.

Today’s program: “Thou Shalt Not Kill: Courage to Resist,” with guest speaker Robert Weilbacher

Robert Weilbacher will tell us about his background that had led to his military service, his service as a combat medic stationed in South Korea, his transition to Conscientious Objection, and the life that came afterwards.

For two years, Rob fought the military’s bureaucracy for a discharge as a Conscientious Objector (CO) and was facing possible prosecution after the Army granted him a CO status but later rescinded that ruling.

With the help of the ACLU and Courage to Resist, he recently received an Administrative Honorable Discharge. Any soldier who has the courage to denounce the glorification of violence and war while inside the military system pays a heavy price.
