We will meet at 11am at Progress Ohio, 172 E. State St. At 11:30am, we will depart for the Ohio Statehouse to observe this disastrous Supreme Court decision five years ago and to invite the public to Progress Ohio. At 1pm, we will return to Progress Ohio for hot chocolate, speakers (to be announced), and an informative discussion on the local effects of the 2010 Citizens United vs. FEC ruling. The event will conclude at 3:30pm.

The Supreme Court’s 2010 ruling in Citizens United vs. the F.E.C. (Federal Election Commission) triggered an explosion in the money spent on elections, including a staggering $7 billion in 2012. Such unprecedented expenditures have fast become the norm, thereby pricing 99 percent of “We, the People” out of the democratic process. The current marketplace of elections must end.

How? By citizens uniting against Citizens United.

On January 21, join Move to Amend (MTA) and other organizations from across the political spectrum for an informative event of action and intelligent conversation regarding this disastrous decision.

Sponsored by the local affiliate of the national Move to Amend organization that is calling for a U.S. Constitutional amendment to reverse several U.S. Supreme Court decisions during the past century and thereby to firmly establish that corporations are not people and that money is not free speech.
