Saturday, October 12, 11:30am-2:30pm, Columbus Metropolitan Library [Northside Branch], 1423 N. High St.
Don’t believe in God? You are not alone! Join the Humanist Community of Central Ohio [HCCO], a community that values people, emphasizes reason, and focuses on this world.
This month’s monthly meeting will feature a speaker from TransOhio, in anticipation of Transgender Awareness Month in November, which also includes Transgender Awareness Week and Transgender Day of Remembrance. Like for all of our monthly meetings, free refreshments will be available, starting at 11:30am; the presentation will start at 12noon.
The speaker will be TransOhio board member Sarah (AS) Green (they/them/their), a non-binary (not female or male) activist and comedian/storyteller. Originally from Chicago, Sarah has lived in Columbus for the past 10+ years. A founding member of Cbus2Ferguson, Sarah has been active in the community for three years, advocating for the transgender community and people of color. Sarah’s talk, tentatively titled “The Bible Didn’t Mention Us,” will cover aspects of being a black trans person in our current society.
TransOhio’s sole purpose is to support all Ohio trans persons. It is the only Ohio-based trans organization. TransOhio serves the Ohio transgender and ally communities by providing services, education, support, and advocacy, which promotes and improves the health, safety, and life experience of the Ohio transgender individual and community. For more information about that group, visit transohio.org.
Join us at 11:30am for free fruit, bagels, pastries, and coffee in the meeting room; the formal program will begin at 12noon.
