Join us on Wednesday, July 15, for July Green Drinks: How Does the Environment Impact our Health?
How does a polluted environment impact Ohioans’ health? Or you could say, what is the connection between a healthy environment and a healthy city? We often discuss environmental issues and climate change in terms of costs and “the right thing to do.” But a new framework has emerged over the last few years: our health.
Nearly a quarter of a million children in Ohio have asthma. Our drinking water supplies are threatened when pesticides and fertilizers run off agricultural fields and lawns. And a changing climate brings new challenges for maintaining healthy ecosystems we rely on for food, water and recreation.
Join us to learn more about the recent information from the Lancet release on Climate and Health, as well as the White House Climate and Health Summit that took place in late June. The panel discussion will feature Dr. Alice Frazier and Linda Diamond from the American Lung Association, moderated by Lauren Kleinman from Health Care Without Harm (and Green Columbus board member), to discuss the health impacts of our environment and a changing climate.
• 6:00-7:00pm: Mingling with Green Drinkers
• 7:00-7:30pm: Short presentation and Q&A by panelists (Dr. Frazier, Linda Diamond, and Lauren Kleinman)
• 7:30-8:00pm: Back to the mingling with Green Drinkers
