Tuesday, February 23, 4-6pm, Capital University Law School, 303 E. Broad St.

Just last month, President Obama issued a series of executive orders banning solitary confinement for juveniles in federal prisons. But here in Ohio, solitary confinement is still commonly used in our prisons and jails.

Come to our event, “Locked Up and Alone: Realities of Solitary Confinement for Adults and Youth in Ohio,” to learn more. Hear speakers from Disability Rights Ohio, the ACLU of Ohio, and Children’s Law Center describe the impact of solitary confinement on the individuals being isolated and on the communities that receive them after they have served their sentences.

The debate around solitary confinement questions whether or not your government can legally use torturous punishments on the people in its prisons and jails. Understanding the current realities of solitary confinement is vital to moving our state towards humane standards of treatment.

This event is free but pre-registration with Capital University Law School is required.

2.0 hours of CLE credit are available for attorneys and 2.0 hours CEU credit for social workers.
