Non-violent Direct Action (NVDA) can be a powerful force for social change but it is often surrounded by controversy. This training will cover the role and purpose of NVDA, discussion of collective safety, the hard skills of planning an action and tools for making sure that actions create powerful stories that are understood by your audience. Throughout this training, participants will be challenged to interact with the material and engage in discussion and activities. This event is free, open to all, and is wheelchair accessible.

SURJ is a multi-racial group organizing white people for racial justice. Through community organizing, mobilizing, and education, SURJ moves white people to act as part of a multi-racial majority for racial justice.
