Thursday, September 29, 7-9pm, Campbell Hall [Rm. 309], 1787 Neil Ave.

Capitalism is in crisis around the world. In the U.S., 20 people own as much wealth as the bottom 150 million. The environment is being destroyed, oppression of people of color, LGBTQ people, immigrants, and women continues, and youth face incredible amounts of student debt while heading into a bleak future of low-wage jobs. However, across the world, people have been fighting back and building movements against capitalism's destruction. From Black Lives Matter and the Bernie Sanders political revolution to Jeremy Corbyn in Britain and social struggle in Brazil, new movements and political organizations have sprung up as people seek to resist capitalism's exploitation and oppression. Students and young people have been at the forefront of these struggles for a better world.

Join Socialist Alternative Columbus for a discussion on the case for socialism and why we are launching Socialist Students. Guest international speaker Theo Sharieff-Winston, national chair of Socialist Students in the United Kingdom and a member of Socialist Party UK, will be joining us to discuss all this as well as the growing student movement for a better world.

Sponsored by Socialist Alternative Columbus.
