Starting in March, we [Yes We Can: Columbus Working Families] will be hosting monthly volunteering events open to all members. As our movement continues to grow, we hope to be able to effect change not only politically, but also at the ground level by supporting organizations that are doing great work in the community.

To kick things off, we will be volunteering with the United Methodist Free Store. For 20 years, the Free Store has been providing those in need within Columbus with donated items such as clothes, kitchenware, furniture, and other essential goods that people with economic stability often take for granted. The Free Store sustains itself largely through the efforts of volunteers like us, and in the winter months, the need drastically increases as they become the only source of warm clothing for those without livable incomes or access to stable housing.

We are signed up to volunteer with the Free Store on Saturday, March 16th, 9am-1pm. While everyone is welcome to volunteer for the full time, we understand that you may have other commitments, so we will offer two different shifts, 9-11am and 11am-1pm.
