The building should be PACKED. Tuesday October 1st will be your finally opportunity to weigh in on your experiences with Columbus Police. We MUST MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD. Public hearing on the draft recommendations from the Safety Commission Subcommittees: Speaker slips will be available on site beginning at 9:00 am and will be received in the order submitted. Speaker slips will be accepted up to thirty minutes after the meeting begins. Each speaker will have 3 minutes to address the Commission. If you can't make the meeting, feel free to submit any comments to CommunitySafetyCommission@columbus.gov. To review of the Safety Commission Subcommittee’s draft recommendations, click here * or view the most recent meeting here. One draft recommendation is for an independent civilian review body to watch over CPD. Another is for independent investigations, and another is for immediate drug/alcohol testing of officers involved in serious incidents with the public. You can review recommendations (probably 40 -50 total) and make comments or show your support for police reform by showing up. Location: Jerry Hammond Building, 1111 E Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43205. In case it’s easier to access, there is a very rough copy and paste of the recommendations included at the bottom of this email, except for the “Training” Recommendations which can be found here.
