On this, the 60th anniversary of the first lunch counter sit-in, we’ll recall an often-forgotten era when black and white civil rights demonstrators marched together, were beaten together, were arrested together, and were even killed together.

Bill Cohen and Paisha Thomas will sing the simple songs that emboldened non-violent protesters for justice. Also featured will be vintage film footage of key triumphs and tragedies of the movement between 1960 and 1965, for example: the 1960 lunch counter sit-ins, the 1961 freedom rides, the 1963 March on Washington, and the 1964 murder of three civil rights workers in Mississippi.

Admission is free but donations will be welcomed. Paisha and Bill will split the proceeds with the Southern Poverty Law Center, which for four decades has championed the rights of minorities and the poor.
