Join SPAN Ohio for a webinar with Melinda St. Louis of Public Citizen and Alex Lawson of Social Security Works. Melinda St. Louis is the Director of Public Citizen’s Medicare for All Campaign. For the past 20 years, Melinda has led multiple campaigns that challenge corporate power and promote economic justice and human rights, including fighting Big Pharma greed in global trade agreements.  The COVID-19 pandemic has illustrated exactly why health care should not be tied to employment and why a strong system of public health is a necessity for survival. Public Citizen has teamed up with other groups to push the agenda for Medicare for All by getting endorsements from city and county councils.   

Hear from Melinda on how to do that in your own community and help achieve our goal. Alex Lawson is the Executive Director of Social Security Works, the convening member of the Strengthen Social Security Coalition— a coalition made up of over 340 national and state organizations representing over 50 million Americans. Lawson previously served as the Communications Director for the organization. In his current role, he coordinates the multifaceted education and advocacy operations to protect and improve the economic security of disadvantaged and at-risk populations while maintaining Social Security as a vehicle of social justice. He is also a strong supporter of Medicare for All.

JOIN US ACROSS OHIO TO FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHT TO HEALTHCARE! Join us every Sunday from 1-3pm starting May 24 through July 5th. 
We will line sections of Route 42 from Cincinnati, near Dayton and Columbus, through Medina to Cleveland to educate and protest for our RIGHT TO HEALTHCARE. Other groups are participating in locations outside Route 42, you can do this right in your neighborhood! We will be joined by healthcare workers, pastors, community members and others to educate the public and our representatives to demand action on Ohio state House Bill 292, Medicare for All and importantly the Medicare for All Crisis Program Act. HB 292 will provide single payer health insurance to all Ohioans giving us the freedom to life, liberty, and the dignity of our health! There will be 5 locations to gather in the Columbus Area :  Broad and High; Lane Ave & High; North Broadway & High; Morse Rd & High; and Rt 161 & High in Worthington. You can go to the one you like.

Bring a sign; bring a chair; wear a SPAN Ohio or Medicare for All shirt; stay on the sidewalk and don't block it; use social distancing and a mask. Wave at those who pass by!
