Black man

Monday, August 24, 5:30-7:30pm
Worthington Village Green

Due to 161 lacking sidewalks, we are moving our meeting spot to Worthington Village Green for safety reasons. There is parking nearby, particularly behind the Griswold Senior Center.
We are taking to the streets of Worthington, OH to protest the brutal, unnecessary police shooting of Jacob Blake. We will meet and rally at the Worthington Village Green with speakers. We will conclude the event with a moment of silence in solidarity with Jacob to send him strength, healing, and protection. Depending on numbers, we will either remain at the Green and occupy the sidewalks. If numbers are high, we will march to the Worthington police station. Wear a mask, bring your signs, Megaphones and voices. We will chant, march, and hold a healing vigil for this man who is currently in the ICU fighting for his life. Why, are we doing this? Sunday night, 8/23/2020, in Kenosha, WI, police shot 29 year old Jacob Blake in the back, 8 times at point blank range, for breaking up a fight - as his young children watched from the back seat of the car he was entering. https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/24/us/kenosha-police-shooting-jacob-blake/index.html Jacob was NOT the suspect. He was not involved directly in the fight. Instead, he attempted to break up the fight and keep the peace. The officers ran up on him as he walked to his car, and as he opened the door, an officer ran up to him, from behind and shot him point blank, 8 times in the back. There were no attempts to use a taser, stun gun, tackle, or use any other tactics. The murderous cop immediately shot him directly in the back with hopes of killing him in front of his children.
