Berta’s work documents the first few hectic weeks of the anti-police brutality protests in Columbus (from late May-mid June, 2020).
George Floyd, a 46 year-old Black man, was murdered in the streets of Minneapolis by police during an arrest. One officer knelt on George's neck as three other policemen looked on, for nearly 8 minutes, ignoring his cries of "I can't breathe" and eventually calling for his mother before he died.
After the video was published, Columbus and cities around the world took to the streets to call for an end to systemic racism. It's Berta’s goal to raise more awareness to the cause with this exhibition, and hopefully make some kind of positive impact - while showing how Columbus came together under one righteous cause.
Framed photographs are for sale with a minimum 25% portion of the proceeds being donated to the Equal Justice Initiative @eji_org
