Featured speaker: Nick Bates, Director of the Hunger Network in Ohio
Join the Ohio Council of Churches and the Hunger Network in Ohio for a discussion about the economic realities of Ohioans struggling to make ends meet. The pandemic has exposed many of the inequalities that Ohioans have dealt with for years. What can we do to fix them? Too often, we push the blame onto low-income households to work harder or fix their own morality when the immorality exists in a system that profits off the hunger of others.
Deacon Nick Bates, JD, has worked for nearly 16 years on Ohio public policy as an advocate for homeless families and youth, voting rights, food security, and state economic investments that will strengthen our communities and Ohio families.
Nick is the director of the Hunger Network in Ohio, an ecumenical advocacy ministry that serves as the Lutheran State Public Policy Office for Ohio. The Hunger Network works to end hunger by addressing the root causes of poverty through advocacy.
