The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called “Going to HCCO” and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.

Going forward, our meetings will be hybrid. You may meet us in-person or attend online.

The formal presentation will begin at 12noon. Pizza and beverages will be provided starting at 11:30am.

This month, we will have Isaac Freeman. Isaac received degrees in French History and Modern European Studies from the University of Haifa, as well as an associate’s degree in electrical engineering from the Israel Institute of Technology. Isaac is a firm believer in the separation of humanities from applied and theoretical sciences.

In this lecture, we will examine myths and facts regarding Medieval scientific thought (most commonly referred to as “natural philosophy”), the methods of which people of that period used, as well as their pre-Copernican cosmology. We would also talk about how some of that knowledge corresponds with modern issues in science (and pseudo-science). The lecture is planned to be an “active participation” one, so feel free asking questions and adding information to the discussed topics.
