Join the OSU Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies for a timely discussion on the broader issues, impacts, and contexts of reproductive justice struggles from Roe v. Wade (1973) to Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization (2022) featuring Mason Hickman (Abortion Fund of Ohio), Alison Norris (OSU College of Medicine/Infectious Diseases), Alyssa Bedrosian (OSU Department of Spanish & Portuguese), Bayan Abusneineh (OSU Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies), and Mytheli Sreenivas (OSU Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies). Lyn Tjon Soei Len (OSU Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies) will be moderating.

Dr. Bayan Abusneineh is a fellow in the “fellow to faculty” program in the Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies department at OSU. Her work centers on race and reproduction in Palestine.

Alyssa Bedrosian is a PhD student in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at The Ohio State University. Her research explores feminist activism in Latin America, with a focus on Argentina and Mexico.

Mason Hickman is a non-binary digital organizer based in Columbus who currently serves as the Digital State Campaigns Manager for Planned Parenthood Federation of America and on the Board of Directors for the Abortion Fund of Ohio (AFO). Their work focuses on utilizing digital tools and social media to promote policy, advocacy, and political goals that will secure reproductive freedom for all people.

Dr. Alison Norris is an Associate Professor in the College of Public Health at OSU. She is an epidemiologist and a medical doctor. Her work centers on sexual and reproductive health with a goal of preventing sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and improving reproductive outcomes for people. She has a particular interest in understanding how context (e.g., endemic disease, social norms, demographic factors, and cultural and institutional structures) influences health and disease.

Dr. Mytheli Sreenivas is Professor of History and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies at OSU. Her current research centers on reproductive history and politics, with a focus on India. She is the author of Wives, Widows and Concubines: The Conjugal Family Ideal in Colonial India (2008) and Reproductive Politics and the Making of Modern India (2021). She also writes regularly on abortion and reproductive politics for public audiences, including in The Washington Post, The Columbus Dispatch, and scroll.in. Mytheli is a board member of the Abortion Fund of Ohio.
