This workshop, co-sponsored by SAIGE of Ohio, will explore the intersection of mental and the ace community and is presented by two members of our inaugural board, Gene Dockery, MA, LPC, NCC, and Mike Sauer, MA, LPC.

While there is a focus on educating counselors, this workshop is open to all healthcare providers and anyone wanting to learn more about ace mental health!

Description

There is an incredible need for counselors that understand and can support asexual clients. At least one percent of the population is asexual, yet there is very little research on this facet of the LGBTQIA community. This presentation by two asexual counselors will give therapists and asexual people alike a deeper understanding of this population. This presentation includes a historical overview, intersectionality, stigma, lived experience, and tools for therapeutic interventions.
