Optimal Health Series
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the nation saw an increase in substance misuse, alcohol consumption, depression, and suicide rates. One in thirteen Ohioans live with addiction, and nearly one in four Ohioans struggle with a mental health condition. To help address this crippling issue, Ohio created the “Beat the Stigma” campaign on behalf of the Ohio Opioid Education Alliance, a public-private partnership focused on raising awareness of addiction and mental health and the need to address both issues through major initiatives. Join the Columbus Metropolitan Club with a panel of experts as we mark Mental Health Awareness Month with an in-depth conversation about the steps that Ohio needs to take to end this second and ongoing pandemic of addiction.
Featuring Chad Jester, Vice President of Corporate Citizenship and President, Nationwide Foundation, Lori Criss, Director of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and Ariana Hoet, Ph.D., Clinical Director and Interim Executive Director, On Our Sleeves, with host Greg Moody, Director of Professional Development, The John Glenn College of Public Affairs, The Ohio State University.
We will be temporarily holding our weekly forums at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center, (which has free on-site parking), and serving box lunches. This change in venue is due to remodeling at the Boat House due to water damage from a ruptured sprinkler head during the holiday cold snap.
