Sunday, August 13, 11am-1pm, Dawes Arboretum, 7770 Jacksontown Rd., Newark, Ohio
Enjoy a hike at Dawes Arboretum with Simply Living led by Lily Schaefer, a former Intern at Simply Living who is now at Dawes Arboretum.
The Dawes Arboretum, located in Newark, is a nonprofit organization, functioning like a living museum, dedicated to enriching lives through the conservation of trees, nature, and history. You will get to experience this for yourself by exploring the main grounds of the Arboretum, which includes gardens, learning and history centers, woodlands, swamps, special tree collections, a lake, and much more.
There is a lot to see, so wear your walking shoes! We will have a walking tour in the morning to see a few of the main attractions. This will be led by Lily Schaefer, a previous Simply Living intern who has spent her summer serving at The Dawes Arboretum through AmeriCorps. After the tour, you can stay and wander to the many other parts of the arboretum, pack a lunch if you want to have a picnic, or drive to nearby options for lunch. As time permits, look around in the Discovery Center and Gift Shop located in the Visitor’s Center, sign up for a tour of the Daweswood House Museum, and explore to your heart’s content.
There is an admission fee of $10 per adult, and $5 per child. For more information on ticket prices, discounts, and pre-buying tickets online, follow this link: dawesarb.org/tickets/.
Upon arrival, there is no need to inform the Gate House you are here for a tour; we will simply meet at the Visitor’s Center and get walking!
