Wednesday, October 11, 8:30am, Ohio Statehouse
House Bill 183 “Bathroom Ban Bill” is scheduled for an opponent (that’s us!) testimony hearing at the Ohio Statehouse this Wednesday, October 11, at 9:30am, in the House Higher Education Committee (Rm. 017).
H.B. 183 is Ohio’s “Bathroom Ban Bill.” The legislation bans transgender and nonbinary individuals from using school facilities of their gender, instead requiring school administrators to enforce bathroom segregation based on the marker on an individual’s original birth certificate. The bill covers K-12 and college facilities, trade and tech schools, community colleges, medical schools, as well as overnight school accommodations. With all of these factors combined, H.B. 183 is easily one of the most extreme “bathroom bans” proposed in the United States.
Hosted by Trans Allies of Ohio, Northwest Ohio Trans Advocacy, TransOhio, The Buckeye Flame, and Have A Gay Day.
