Saturday, January 27, 8pm, Columbus Mennonite Church, 35 Oakland Park Ave.
Complex harmonies, whirling layers, and a special “blend of herbs and spices” — this is how the Lincoln Journal Star’s Best Band of 2022 describes their particular brand of American roots music. Though they call Lincoln, Nebraska their home, The Wildwoods’ have shared both their original works and beautifully pared-down covers with domestic and international alike, and their next show in Columbus is just the thing to help cure some of those on-coming Ohio winter blues.
On Saturday, January 27, The Wildwoods will be the featured act of the first 2024 coffeehouse concert sponsored by the Columbus Folk Music Society here in Columbus.
Prior to The Wildwoods taking the stage, at 8pm on Saturday, January 27 at the Columbus Mennonite Church, 35 Oakland Park Ave., there will be a full two-hours of additional folk music programming to enjoy!
Starting at 6pm, there will be an informal folk music jam, followed by an “open mic” segment for three different folk acts at 7pm. Finally, at 7:45pm, the audience will be invited to join in a brief folk music sing-along as a reminder of what is at the heart of folk music — music for the people made by the people.
A donation of $15 at the door is suggested; $10 for CFMS members.
