Society’s views of ADHD and queerness have striking parallels. Some believe ADHD has been over-diagnosed, and its signs and symptoms are often misunderstood. In the same way, members of the LGBTQIA+ community are often dismissed or viewed as going through a phase. Research shows the queer community experiences higher rates of ADHD and other neurodevelopmental disorders. While ADHD or identifying as LGBTQIA+ present challenges on their own, the intersection of the two can lead to greater isolation, anxiety, depression, and other issues.
Institute Insights will look at how the intersection of queerness and ADHD impacts individuals during a live webinar on April 16.
Join Equitas Health Institute Lead Trainer Ramona Peel (she/they) as she talks with Melanie Thomas-Castillo, PsyD (she/her) and Polly Sohn, MSW, LSW (she/her). You will also have a chance to ask questions during a live Q & A.
