Saturday, June 15, 1-4pm, Oakland Park and Maize Commerce Plaza, 929 Oakland Park Ave.
The Endangered Species Coalition is celebrating 50 years of when the Endangered Species Act was put into federal policy by sponsoring art murals on buildings throughout the country and has chosen Sunny Glen Garden and the Connecting Community Corridor for People Pollinators and the Planet (CCC for PPP) as partners to bring an art mural to our Linden neighborhood right here in Columbus, Ohio!
Kenia Lamarr, our resident Linden artist, has created a design for the Rusty-Patched Bumblebee, the first native bee on the endangered species list as we look for ways to prevent the Rusty-Patched Bumblebee from becoming extinct by providing native pollen and nectar food sources and habitat free from pesticides and chemicals, leaving leaves, stems, and dead seed heads up for the winter on individual properties, balconies, porches, and on schools, churches, and businesses.
Save the date! On Saturday, June 15, 1-4pm, we will have a formal “art mural reveal” with guest speakers, local vendors, prizes, and have a pollinator party to celebrate!
The Endangered Species Coalition Pollinator Protectors has sponsored native plants to give away to our community, specifically to support the Rusty-Patch Bumblebee, but of course, they support many of our other pollinators and birds and local wildlife too!
We are incredibly grateful to Faisal IIyas for providing his building as the canvas, and for using the parking lot for our event and to the Endangered Species Coalition, The Center for Biodiversity and Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District’s Community Backyard program for their sponsorship of our artist, the art mural, and the upcoming event!
We are looking for local/Linden vendors (I will post an application link soon) but please let them know or send their contact info to <SunnyGlenGarden@gmail.com>.
Also, if you know of a Linden school, church, or business, we will have a couple 6x10-foot native plant gardens to donate as well. Please contact us at <SunnyGlenGarden@gmail.com>.
