Friday, September 6, 10am, this on-line event requires advance registration

Voting empowers citizens to have a voice in shaping their government and influencing decisions that impact their lives. For people with developmental disabilities, voting takes far more advance planning and preparation — and county board Service and Support Administrations [SSAs] serve an essential supportive role in that process!

Join the ACLU of Ohio for a session designed specifically for county board SSAs on Friday, September 6 at 10am to learn how you can help guarantee that every person in Ohio is able to exercise their fundamental American right on Election Day in November.

Facilitated by Jennifer Kucera (Chair, Ohio Olmstead Task Force), Diana Mairose (Hamilton DD Advocate Advisor and Project STIR Trainer), and additional experts on voting rights in Ohio, this training will equip SSAs with the knowledge and tools to support people on their caseloads to:

• Register to vote before the October 7 deadline,

• Understand their voting rights,

• Request and submit their absentee ballots, and/or

• Travel to the polls on Election Day (November 5).

In addition, Jennifer Kucera will share info about a recent federal court ruling striking down portions of a voting law in Ohio that would have placed additional, unnecessary obstacles in the way of people with disabilities trying to vote absentee.
