Join Ohio Voice and Honesty for Ohio Education Ohio for a “Lunch and Learn” on lame duck. Lame duck begins in mid-November. Lame duck is a term used to describe the roughly six-week period between Election Day and the start of the new legislative session. During lame duck, Ohio legislators scrabble to push as many laws through the legislative process as possible. Any bills that do not pass through the legislative process and get signed into law essentially “die” and must be re-introduced during the next two-year general assembly term (beginning January 1, 2025).
It is necessary for Ohioans to engage in the lame duck process to advocate for a better Ohio. During this “Lunch and Learn,” you will learn about Ohio’s legislative process, what to expect during lame duck, ways to participate in lame duck, and key bills that advocacy organizations are monitoring closely.
