Saturday, December 7, 4:30pm, Church and Community Development For All People Connection Center, 911 Parsons Ave.

In remembrance of Julius Tate Jr., whose life was tragically cut short on December 7, 2018, the community will gather to honor his memory and call for systemic change in policing. Julius was taken from us far too soon, and his family, friends, and community have been left to grieve this immeasurable loss.

Join us on Saturday, December 7, at the Church and Community Development For All People Connection Center, located at 911 Parsons Ave., for a candlelight vigil and a free community dinner. Doors will open at 4:30pm; dinner will be served at 5pm. This gathering will serve not only as a celebration of Julius’ life but as a continued call for justice and accountability.

This December marks the seventh year since Julius’ murder. Yet, accountability remains elusive. This gathering aims to remind the community and local officials of Julius’ value, calling for the dismantlement of systems that perpetuate violence and state-sanctioned terrorism.

Stop Using Our Tax $$$ To Kill Our Kids

Julius should have been in his home, surrounded by love, enjoying his favorite meals, and smiling from ear to ear in Black Joy. Instead, his family is faced with another year without him, with no real support from the city, an experience compounded by increased surveillance and speculation. Julius’ family had to fight for what should have been a given: his diploma, a testament to his hard work and dedication, achieved before his life was unjustly taken.

Whenever possible, show your support for Julius’ mother, Jamita, and his family. Please consider sharing this message and contributing to Julius’ family through cashapp at §JujuMia.

Let this gathering be a powerful testament to Julius’ life and remind our city of the urgent need for abolitionism and dismantling broken systems that are beyond saving or reform. Together, we will stand in solidarity, honoring Julius’ legacy and demanding an end to these injustices.
