This global event, held simultaneously in cities across the world, seeks justice, accountability, and systemic reform in response to the ongoing failures of law enforcement and the lack of accountability for police misconduct.

Ohio’s virtual press conference will feature powerful testimonies from Ohio families who have had a loved one killed by police as they demand action to end police violence and prioritize transformative change. Speakers will include Chana Wiley, sister of Jaron Thomas; Dytania Hudson, mother of Deaunte L Bell and Johnny L Bell; and Rebecca Duran, mother of Donovan Lewis. This is a call for urgent reforms aimed at ensuring transparency, justice, and human dignity in all communities.

Key Demands:

  1. Accountability: Independent investigations and transparent processes to hold law enforcement accountable for misconduct.

  2. Policy Reform: Policies that emphasize de-escalation, eliminate racial bias, and protect lives.

  3. Justice for Families: Reopen cold cases, provide resources for affected families, and amplify victims’ voices.

  4. Transparency: Clear and accessible reporting on police misconduct and use of force.

  5. Community Investment: Reallocate resources to education, healthcare, mental health support, and economic opportunities instead of over-policing.

Quote from Spokesperson:
“Too many families have had to bury their loved ones without answers, without justice, and without change. This is a fight for justice, reform, and the dignity of every life. Our voices are clear: enough is enough.”

Families and supporters from around the world will share personal stories and advocate for real, systemic change. The movement is unified, determined, and committed to lasting reform. We are proud to stand with our impacted families and our partners across the world.

Ohio Families Unite Against Police Brutality (OFUAPB) is a statewide non-profit organization founded by Sabrina Jordan, who lost her son to police brutality in 2017. After the tragic loss of her son, Ms. Jordan began the ongoing work to unite the 1,200+ families in Ohio since 2000 who have lost loved ones to police abuse, creating a connected space for support, healing, and action. OFUAPB was founded to create and provide a space for families to grieve, develop and control their own platform for grief and advocacy, rather than being manipulated by exterior organizations.
