Thursday, January 30, 12noon-1pm, this on-line event requires advance registration
Happy New Year Comrades! We are back with another fabulous “Lunch and Learn” on January 30 at 12noon! We hope that you can join us.
Planning a retreat soon to figure out next steps or what your organization is doing in 2025? Maybe it’s a convening space, long half-day meeting, or a series of spaces, but your organization doesn’t know where to start to plan for the future. Worried about the right process? This “Lunch and Learn” will help with that!
It’s no secret that our ecosystem will be fighting for marginalized and vulnerable communities in 2025. Under a Trump Presidency, the uphill battle will be strenuous and exhausting but not impossible as we’ve been here before. However, it will take intentionality, strategic planning, and community building. This is the space where we will work through how to plan in various spaces, the logistics of a retreat/long meeting, what to do when you don’t know what to exactly plan for, what meaningful follow up looks like, and how to be productive.
Join Alwiyah Shariff, Ohio Voice’s training and fellowship manager, to hear about all things retreat and convening planning to explore what works for you! RSVP to join us January 30 on Zoom!
Alwiyah Shariff is the Training and Fellowship Manager at Ohio Voice. In 2007, as a high schooler, she started her organizing career on a campaign to raise the minimum wage and learned how to advocate for young people in the system. Since then, she has worked in multiple sectors of the social justice movement including protest organizing, lobbying, union organizing and field organizing — registering over 45,000 young people in Ohio to vote as Ohio Student Association’s Field Director. She’s also been a trainer for multiple training institutions including the Midwest Academy, Momentum and WildFire. She is coming to us from her role as the National Membership Coordinator with the Working Families Party and is eager to work (strictly) in Ohio at such a critical time in our country. She lives in Columbus, Ohio with her family and loves to travel back home to East Africa.
