Join the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to celebrate the grand opening of the Eco-Discovery Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a tour of the new, sustainable center.

Save Ohio Parks is observing Earth Day by encouraging supporters to attend the official opening of Salt Fork State Park’s Eco-Discovery Center on Tuesday, April 22, at 10am.

Save Ohio Parks will be there to express our appreciation of the Center as an example of how environmentally sustainable practices and use of solar energy can benefit our communities. But we will also make it known that ODNR is not embracing this model, and in fact does the opposite by leasing its lands to the oil and gas industry for fracking.

Members of Save Ohio Parks will gather in the parking lot of the Eco-Discovery Center at 9:45am on Tuesday, April 22, for the ribbon-cutting ceremony that will take place at 10am.

As soon as the ceremony ends, we will display our Save Ohio Parks banner and begin distributing information about the harm caused by fracking and the reasons why we oppose the fracking underway next to and beneath Salt Fork State Park and several Ohio wildlife areas.

We plan to engage with and educate visitors on the tour after the ceremony. Afterwards we can visit the site of the January 2 Groh well pad explosion and observe well pad operations and construction in the area surrounding the park.

Directions: From I-77 north or south take Cambridge exit 47 to get on U.S. Rte. 22 east, then stay on that for about six miles to the entrance of Salt Fork State Park on your left. Enter the park, and, after crossing the lake, bear left. The Eco-Discovery Center will be on your left before you get to the beach area.
