This Wednesday, May 7th at 9am, the Ohio House of Representatives Natural Resources Committee is hearing Opponent Testimony on HB 170, to "Establish process to regulate carbon capture, storage technology."

Please join us in urging the committee members to VOTE NO by submitting written testimony and, if you can, speaking at the hearing, and by calling the committee members and telling them that you are a concerned Ohioan and you want them to vote no!

Want to submit testimony? Here's how!

If you would like to speak at the hearing, you must submit your testimony in writing ahead of time. All testimony must be submitted in writing by noon on Tuesday, May 6th.

To submit your written testimony, send it to OHRNaturalResourcesCommittee@ohiohouse.gov no later than noon on Tuesday, May 6th! PLEASE BCC info@benohio.org so we can see who has submitted testimony!

Call and tell them to vote no on this dangerous and misleading false climate solution!

Here's more info on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and why this bill is bad for Ohioans!

CCS is expensive, dangerous, and unproven! This bill would:

  • force landowners to have carbon dioxide waste stored underneath their homes and properties without their consent
  • prioritize industry interests over other stakeholders in the community through 'sole and exclusive authority' of the state
  • transfer liability to tax payers
  • be especially dangerous in Ohio, which is vulnerable due to tens of thousands of abandoned oil and gas wells and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources' demonstrated inability to adequately regulate class II well.
