Saturday, June 7, 2pm, The Reeb Center, 280 Reeb Ave.

Appalachian Swing is a Columbus-based bluegrass band known for their tight harmonies, strong musicianship, and high-energy sound inspired by the legendary Kentucky Colonels. On Saturday June 7, they’ll perform a matinee show at the Reeb Center (280 Reeb Ave.) as part of the Columbus Folk Music Society’s monthly concert series. Doors open at 2pm with snacks, followed by an open mic at 2:30pm, and culminates with Appalachian Swing taking the stage at 3pm. Admission is free; donations are welcomed.

They have built their sound around The Kentucky Colonel’s brand of bluegrass with influences of Clarence and Roland White. In short, The Kentucky Colonels may have lit the spark, but Appalachian Swing makes the music. And great music they make! Adam Schlenker, one band member, is known worldwide for his flatpicking and bluegrass guitar skills and is a renowned educator.
