Family at Statehouse

Last Wednesday, a new Ohio bill was introduced to give legal rights to embryos and fetuses. Sound bizarre? We've seen it in other states, because it's an extreme plot by anti-abortion groups to ban all abortion, but the idea would go so far that it also criminalizes IVF and bans many forms of contraception and miscarriage management.

We needed to show how harmful that would be, so our office asked Beth and Kyle Long (pictured above) to talk to News5 Cleveland's Morgan Trau. They shared their story of pregnancy loss and needing abortion care in the first TV commercial during the Issue 1 campaign.

Since 2023, Beth and Kyle have had great news! They were able to do a second round of IVF and it helped them start the family they always wanted. Together with their son, the happy couple explained how reproductive freedom and access to a wide range of medical care allowed them to preserve Beth's fertility.

This is the exact story we need told when we talk about these so-called "personhood" abortion ban bills.

Contact your Ohio lawmakers and tell them to put a stop to House Bill 370.

Our work to oppose this ban didn't end there. Together with our partners — Abortion Fund of OhioOhio Women's Allianceand Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio — we protested inside the Ohio Statehouse during a rally being thrown by the extremists behind this bill. Our volunteers peacefully disrupted their event to send a clear message: No one can take away our rights.
