In mid-September, the Ohio House of Representatives returned from summer break, hearing committees again for the first time. While their immediate focus will likely be congressional redistricting and various property tax reform proposals, we're keeping a watchful eye out for updates on several harmful anti-LGBTQ+ bills, including:
- HB 162: The "My Child-My Chart Act"
- HB 262: Designating "Natural Family Month"
- HB 249: The Drag Ban
The Ohio Senate will also be back from recess shortly, and in both chambers we're paying close attention to rumors about potential veto overrides of the anti-LGBTQ+ measures Governor DeWine struck from the budget in June.
We still ask for your support for the Slate of Love—a visionary package of legislation that includes:
- A ballot measure to codify marriage equality in Ohio
- LGBTQ+ parental rights protections
- A conversion therapy ban
- The Ohio Fairness Act to guarantee non-discrimination
- A declaration that “Love Makes a Family”
