Turnstile on stage

Turnstile’s singer Brenden Yates singer thanked Columbus for Turnstile’s bassist Franz Lyons towards the finale of Turnstile’s Kemba live outdoor show. Turnstile’s set in front of 5,200 people under the evening heavens started with the embracing ambiance of Never Enough thundered once the guitars, and drums kicked in. Kids moshed with a collective exuberance after the introduction pronounced allure.is from Baltimore. Franz is from Columbus. I’d watched Turnstile’s last Columbus show in front of a sold-out Kemba indoor show of 2,300 people in 2022. Turnstile doubled their Columbus audience and then some. Kemba’s new attendees included people who knew Franz but weren’t familiar with Turnstile’s music.

LOD Embassy Boardshop Columbus was now accompanied by Cafe Bourbon Street alumni circa 2009, Old Town East skateboarding, and over 5000 thousand teenagers. Walking around Turnstile show was  kinda like Comfest meets Camp Flog.

2022 was in support of Turnstile’s album Glow-On. 2025’s show was in support of Never Enough. Never Enough showed a new discovery in making post-hardcore. Turnstile added the understanding of 70’s jazz textures and Eno in melody. Turnstile’s frosting is likely derived from working with Badbadnotgood and Blood Orange. Badbadnotgood is a Canadian jazz band who covers DJ Premier, J-Dilla, and Tribe Called Quest. Badbadnotgood worked with Wu’s  Ghostface, Earl Sweatshirt, Danny Brown and Tyler, the Creator.

Turnstile didn’t imitate legendary samples. Turnstile understood why these sounds worked in feeling and arrangement. Turnstile’s other like-minded collaborator Dev Hynes, and Blood Orange opened for Turnstile. Dev Hynes sounds like if Prince, and Michael Jackson made lounge music for various 70’s films.

Turnstile innovated: if you need music between mosh riffs – what should it sound like?

As Turnstile pleased Kemba with Never Enough, TLC, Endless, I Care/Dull, and Don’t Play,

I realized Turnstile had solved the 311 problem. Turnstile is a heavy band who like compositional arrangements.

During Turnstile’s Real Thing I realized the root of Turnstile’s 311 problem: Fugazi. Franz plays a bass line influenced by Joe Lally of Fugazi. Fugazi took 3 chord punk into jazz fusion.

Turnstile is known as the world’s most popular hardcore band. I watch Turnstile every couple of years. Turnstile tours every continent every evening while I’m walking around Columbus, Ohio. The most logical insult for a hardcore band who extended jam moments. 311. If 311 fans attend Turnstile shows.

I assure you Turnstile welcomes you as people. Turnstile wouldn’t be the world’s more popular hardcore band if it wasn’t for Fugazi’s influence on music culture. Fugazi is why Turnstile shows are fun for high school kids. Fugazi were against violence, sexism, homophobia, and racism. Fugazi play all ages shows in an ecosystem conducive for nurturing organisms.

Franz Lyons is a product of the Legion of Doom punk community, and the Daymon Dodson music scene. People can mosh without violence escalating Franz’s understanding of fun interacted well with Baltimore culture which is known for Baltimore Club dance music, and a hardcore scene with a proximity near Washington DC’s Dischord/Fugazi community.

Turnstile continued with Drop, Light Design, Come Back For More/Fazed Out, Sunshower, 7, Keep it Moving, Pushing Me Away, Fly Again, and Seein Stars. I walked up into the highest part in Kemba so I could see if large audience killed the fun.

Franz started his hardcore existence in basements of 20 people. Turnstile’s circle pit during Sole was backed up with people standing in a field waving their arms. I looked at ardent girls who were jumping up and down with excitement.

Turnstile crushed from everywhere in Columbus open air. I realized the hardcore circle pit sections were now thrash. Metallica play stadiums. Metallica is music’s biggest draw.

Turnstile’s newest member Meg Mills muted chords and fragmented solo riffs were oscillating with an intense precision. I’m viewing a lady head-banging ripper. During Holiday I laughed. I walked around the entire periphery during the next song. I realized Turnstile understood the logical progression for a professional hardcore band is thrash. Turnstile were now a live Thrash band with snippets which understood Badbadnotgood, and Blood Orange’s Hip Hop inspiration.

Meg Mills riffs churned in a miniskirt. Blood Orange then joined Turnstile for Alien Love Call.

Turnstile’s new wave sounds worked with a disco-ball lighting which understood why Charlie XCX fans gravitate into arena techno settings while Turnstile sounded like Talking Heads or Duran Duran instead of Tiesto. Turnstile’s drummer Daniel Fang  switched up the rhythms. I saw kids mosh while Daniel Fang played a drum solo with an almost Eddie Palmieri swing.

Turnstile’s singer Brendon Yates then yelled: FREE PALESTINE as the introduction music for Mystery permeated our circumference.  The entire KEMBA screamed in a futile victory which didn’t feel futile.

Thrash then overpowered from Meg Mills and the other guitars as Mystery’s expose commenced.

Meg Mills riffs were FREEING PALESTINE.
Franz Lyons’ bass lines were FREEING PALESTINE.
My friend FRANZ LYONS FREEED PALESTINE..
DIY COLUMBUS PRODUCT FRANZ LYONS FREED PALESTINE.
Daniel Fang’s drumming FREED PALESTINE.
Pat McCory’s riffs were FREEING PALESTINE.
Brendon Yates just declared FREE PALESTINE in Columbus, Ohio.

We all agreed.
PALESTINE was now FREE.

Turnstile’s truth paved the road for a two state solution with a functional economy, and electoral process. Texas oil oligarchs were notified by Muslim oil oligarchs. Oil prices skyrocket if Allah’s people suffer. Putin’s oil power was used in a Marxist human solidarity Israel agreed Meg Mill’s fretwork found riffs in sync with humanity. Welp, Mystery at least showed a simple idea was understood. Netanyahu’s exploitive imperialism and Hamas rapists are both horrible and bullshit.

Turnstile’s audience knew…You can’f fool the youth.

Clairo’s audience knew…You can’f fool the youth.

People in Palestine shouldn’t be decimated for implementations of fascism everywhere because of puppet terrorists. I found myself jumping up and down. YOU CAN’T FOOL THE YOUTH. The Truth is out there.

Turnstile then rocked Blackout. Turnstile freed Palestine. We all saw Turnstile Free Palestine in Columbus, Ohio. Turnstile’s finale was Birds which sounds like Lupe Fiasco’s Dumb it Down introduction leading into Bad Brains Fearless Vampire Killers.

P.S. Turnstile didn’t Free Palestine 9/23/2025 despite Turnstile’s alignment with the UN, and ICC. Turnstile’s understanding of truth could Free Palestine! If the new generation Frees Palestine with social movements and everyone voting. Did Turnstile Free Palestine 9-23-2025?
