CCS administrative office

Republicans aren’t the only people who support private schools in Ohio.

The Columbus City Schools (CCS) Board of Education also wants to make private schools the best they can be. Need proof?

There are lots of cuts that the Board of Education are talking about to save money, but they keep ignoring the two most obvious. They ignore these two choices, because not to, would affect the administrators in the Central Office (over 250 full-time plus their support staff).

On December 8, 2019, the former superintendent got the paperwork approved for CCS to pay the retirement contribution for everyone in the Central Office. That means that every year since 2019 an additional 5-6 million dollars have gone into the pockets of the administrators in the Central Office instead of helping the students. Now with budget cuts on the horizon the entire Board of Education has suddenly forgotten this selfish decision.

Showing how selfish and greedy they are? That’s a great way to help promote Columbus private schools!

From the December 8, 2019 Columbus Dispatch

Columbus Board of Education picks up full cost of administrators' pension payments, frustrating teachers. Starting next year, administrators with Columbus City Schools will no longer pay into the state's retirement system. Instead, the district will cover the cost.

But wait… there’s more.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, CCS received millions of dollars from the federal government. What did they spend that money on? Hiring more than a hundred additional administrators for the Central Office (plus support staff)? Are the Central Office administrators more important than the teachers, janitors or secretaries?

Yes. According to the former Superintendent, and with the approval of the Board of Education, those administrators are all more important.

So when you hear the current Superintendent and Board of Education claiming that they must cut teachers and eliminate busing for students please remind yourself that their priority is to better promote Columbus private schools.

Using tax dollars to pay the retirement contribution for administrators in the Central Office. And, adding hundreds of unnecessary administrators to the Central Office. This is how CCS is working to promote the Columbus private schools.

I can’t imagine a better way than to show us how little they care about the district other than bathing in their own greed and showing the teachers, students and parents how much they love Columbus private schools. There’s just no other way to explain it than this.
